Jeremiah (Liver Eater) Johnson's knife

I was at the Buffalo Bill museum in Cody WY and took a picture of The Liver Eater's knife. It was hard to get a good picture through the glass case, but that's his knife and sheath.

I would have thought it would have had more of a pointed tip, but considering what he used it for, it was probably rounded off due to use.

Funny, the first thing I thought when I saw that handle was Bocote scales with black micarta pins! ;)
 
Johnson lived from 1824-1900. He probably had several knives during his lifetime. The age of that knife is hard to tell. I like to see old knives and thought I would share with BF.

Enjoyed seeing it, thank you for posting it Mr. Lewis. I love the time period from about the French-Indian Wars until the end of the Mountain Man era. Good stuff in our past!
