I'd heard about this series, but never was able to watch an episode. I saw it was available at Blockbuster, so I rented the first disc.

It's about the USA being attacked by some 20 nuclear explosions detonated simultaneously and how one town, Jericho, Kansas, deals with it.

Long story short, my wife and I were both hooked on the series. I didn't rent anymore episodes, as I bought the entire First Season at Walmart for $39

While it's not perfect, I HIGHLY recommend it !

I kept up on it. Too bad it was cancelled after the first season. It would have been interesting to see how they progressed with it.

It was canceled and then resurrected due to popular demand but is yet to air.
It used to air in Wednesday but now is supposed to run on Fridays.

They have been renewed for AT LEAST 7 more episodes.

More if they bring in the viewers.

I understand what y'all are saying, and I don't disagree; indeed, CBS 'officials' have stated in the press (see NY Times article linked below) that they want viewers tuning in the old-fashioned way.

However, one of the reasons the producers were able to save the show (with much fan support, of course) was by pointing out to CBS that the online audience was not reflected in the Nielsen ratings; further, the typical online viewer is (perceived to be) in a more 'desirable' demographic by networks.

I won't pretend to know if this is all true, but there have been a number of press reports, like this one and this other one, that suggest the "online audience makes you money, CBS!" argument is, at a minimum, plausible.

Yeah, but the more DVD's they sell the more likely they are to keep it on the air.

Jericho is one of my favorite shows.

While this is true, they (CBS) said that also visiting the website is good too due to all the other stuff they have there. (Background videos etc..)

I can't remember how they worded it, but it's important too.

just got done watching season 1 and I love it. does anyone know when the new eposides will be airing??

S2 of Jericho will be a 7-ep mid-season replacement so I guess some other series has to be cancelled or go on hiatus... January or February is probably a safe bet.

I enjoyed it but IMO it's downfall was that it was too slow earlier on. Don't know if you had a mid season break over there but when it came back for the second half I thought it was much improved but unfortunately the damage was already done so it was canned. Fortunately the nuts campaign has resulted in it returning but it's not here to stay yet.

The problem I see now is do they wrap up the story and fill in the blanks for the viewers in case those 7 episodes are it, or do they stick with the plan and possibly leave the viewers without any answers if it's not renewed.

The soap opera portions, a little bit much to sit through. For the most part, I really liked it. The ending of the next to last episode, covered by the Foo Fighters, was pretty entertaining.
