I've already came up with a staring point to start engineering the ultimate large Busse......

No choil, please.

Blade Thickness = 3/16"
Blade Length = 15.25”
Overall length = 20”
Blade Width = 1.75”
Weight = 21 oz
Grind = Full Convex
Handle = Resiprene C
Finish: Hand Finished Satin
Edge: Blended Zero
Steel = INFI
Heat Treat = 58-60 Rc

Any interest in something like this, guys?

I've been promoting a basic 14 for a little now. Same thickness,height, and grind as the basic 10. But hey! Why not make it a 15? I would sooooo happy!

It all sounds perfect but I would like to see the blade width taper from
1.75 to 2.0 toward the tip creating a little belly so the blade isn't as strait
as the 1311.

I'll echo that, I could see it as a basis for a really nifty, and useful INFI Machete. I know I'd drop some cash on a nice Machete for the long haul.

I have enough fatty choppers that don't get carried enough now. the 1311 proved for sure that it doesn't need to be .30 or even .25. 3/16 is the max but I'd like it to be even a bit thinner than that lol. maybe the boss man can do like the basic 4 and offer a anorexic version and a fatty :)

I read somewhere that infi wouldnt be a good choice for a thin machete type blade.

Cant remember where I heard it though:confused:

If 3V makes good machetes INFI will definitely make a good machete.most super thin machetes are very soft but I think INFI would be fine at it's 58-60 hardness in a 1/8th machete. Actually it would be new than fine, it would be my ideal steel choice for a 1/8th machete. Once you get down to 1/16th I think the hardness will have to be dropped no matter what steel is used.

I'd be in for everything except the thickness. It'd have to be the same as the basic11, including the distal taper. For a blade that long, it'd still need a choil, 15" has to have the ability to choke up on, but I'm likin' the satin, zero edge, and the 15.25" cutting edge, the blade can be closer to 17" with a choil & ricasso. However, nuclear meltdown is fine on the undercarriage around the talon hole & choil, but it needs a flat spine out the gate!

I suspect the math on those specs won't add up, especially going with the thickest, heaviest full convex grind option on a blade longer than the 1311 and expecting only ~2 oz increase in weight.
The other issue is that only the even numbered basics were LE's, so a 3/16" Full Flat or high sabre ground B14 LE at 20 oz would be sweet.
A coated B13 or B15 with similar specs would be cool and more affordable.
I would love to see a newer res-c chopper handle modeled off of the TTKZ grip if something like this were made.

Until then the Mother of all Dogs is in for the win...

Why not .25"?

It would add some mass and stiffness for chopping and batonning,
but not too much so...

I think .25 is the infi sweet spot,
I wish my BWM were so.
