My dad is currently stepping into retirement and passing the biz to my brother and i..it got me thinking about Busse and Jerry.
I will always be a Busse customer an Im sure Jerry has a great succession plan in place but im just curious. When Jerry decides to slip into retirement and take it easy...will the value of "Jerry" era blades increase in demand and value?? (Over time) I would assume so.. thoughts?

This is assuming he will ever retire, I've heard the whiskey makes him immortal like a fountain of youth:D

But in all seriousness, "Jerry era" knives might go up in value a little; next era models might have more unique designs and maybe more CBT and light brigade treatment but... i don't think they'll have the same rich backstory with each new model that we have now. Depends who's designing them i guess.

As long as Scotch is being made (for inspiration) Jerry should be able to design until he loses sight...

Or if the company will still be around at all? And what will happen to the unconditional warranty when Jerrys gone? The great warranty is one big reason Busse knives hold their value so very well. Would that go away with Jerry’s retirement or God forbid his passing?

I would say, Randalls from Bo's era are more valuable than since he passed. Randall made is still around.

Collector value is a fickle thing. But as far as the Busse company goes, yes a lot of the appeal is the cult of personality, but also a great company with great products. Jerry has several kids who he's training up, and even if they don't take over operations, there's a lot of other people capable of turning out good knives. they could never have another new design, and there's already so many models they could reissue them for a hundred years.

¡ un brindis por la salud de Jerry!

I think Jerry will out live all of us.

I think you're right DJC72, howdy by the way!

He's doing what he loves for a living...!
He's providing for his family...!

His business is successful, due to passion & hard work...!
Looks like he provides a fun yet productive workplace...!

And we can't buy our beloved Busse blades fast enough...!
He's already outlived most of us...!!!

Here's to you Mr Jerry Busse & Family...!!

I am still trying to figure out a way to take it with me. I switching religions to Viking because they can take their toys with them. I am certainly not leaving my stuff here for grandkids to peddle.

You and me both Cobalt!
I don't have kids...
I have a niece in the Yukon that LOVES the outdoors, and bushcraft & hiking!
So, she'll get some gear...

And I have a "brother" whose great grand kids call me Uncle Randy!
6 & 8 if I remember...
Great kids, call on my Birthday singing, call and send drawings & cards!!
Warms my heart...
I've already set aside some things in case I run out of lives one day... or when I do...
For now, I just want them to be kids as long as they can!

But I have a Nephew who learned from his daddy how to work hard as possible to not work.
Whoops, forgot I'm not in W&C, whew!
I love my Nephew, but I can't really stand him...
A perfect example of how constant coddling & spoiling ruins a young man.
A dad who never worked a job for other than cash to avoid paying maintenance...

Sorry Cobalt, I'm too chatty today!
I would be fine if they laid me to rest inside my Lincoln safe, on top of
my favourites!!
All best to you & yours Cobalt!

Imagine my shbm's going on sale at my local craigslist for $20 obo. Lol
