Looking at these fighters - the Forester primarily. Looks like a man's version of a short machete. Very cool blade design, and I like the handles. Anyone have one and care to comment?

I don't have one, but you should know that they aren't 'fighters', hence their names. They are intended to be more camp knives. Beautiful design, though! And with Hossom designing, and Spyderco doing them, you can bet they will be well worth any wait.

The Spyderco collaboration knives are intended as camp/woodcraft/survival knives. I have separately designed combat versions of these knives, but as you can see from this photo of my Combat Chainsaw they are definitely not camp knives.

Mr Hossom, what is your impression on the steel used on these camp knives.Saw that it was some stainless steel like, "N609CO", or some such nomenclature. How would you rate this, say like if you compared it to CPMS30V.Thank you.

It lacks the wear resistance of S30V, but otherwise it's about the same. It takes a great edge and I've seen no evidence of any tendancy for microchipping. I'm not excluding that possibility, but I've not seen it and I've used one of the prototypes to chop on some well seasoned hickory. A good number of people have my folders which use the same steel and the feedback has been very positive.

Mr Hossom, thank you for the reply.I really like the looks of this series of knives. Was trying to see if 1SKS or NewGraham store had it in stock. Was not able to find any info. Are these knives available in any stores, or are they still in production stage.

I believe they are being shipped by Spyderco, but I'd think this is the forum to ask them that. I'm honestly not sure.

Glad you like what you see.
