Mere minutes after making the bold claim that Jerry Busse never copies anyone, I find out you've gone and copied this poor guy's handle design to make the AD, his blade shape for the FSH, and the scallops at the front of the handle for the SFNO, FSH & FBM!!! As if that weren't bad enough, you had to go and rip off this guy's talon hole!!!!! ;)

Gosh, Jerry, have you no shame? Can't you come up with ANYTHING original!?!?!

Maybe if you offered this guy royalties he'd let you off the hook.

...Or maybe someone should go rip this guy a new talon hole. I'm starting to wonder if Jerry isn't the most-copied knife maker in the world.

Cobalt, try it again. I couldn't right click the image to copy the URL, so I had to copy it old school. I corrected the link.

Unless I am mistaken, you are as wrong as rain. :p

I dont think he is the first one to pimp a busse knife. Looks like he polished the blade and stuck some new slabs on the handle.

If you go through the gallery where that one is, it looks like he has one nearly identical without the scallops. It almost looks like he took some preexisting Busses and refinished them. Sort of reminds me of the Euro4 or a SJ. I think he ought to have his hands broke for that sort of blatant rip off, if it is not a refinishing job. Disgraceful.

It looks like he pimped some Sebenzas also.

How is this different from the beautiful customs that we have seen that were based on Busse knives? Specifically, I am thinking about Drew's "Grand Piano Key" and Ronybear's Reese Weiland customs. I guess I don't see why this is a problem.

This knifemaker does a lot of refinishing work on existing pieces. I don't think there is any harm done.

WoW! If anyone swore that Fehrmans were Busse copies, they owe to see that picture. Damn, that's as close as it gets. I'll do admit it looks nice though and I'm sure whoever made it is capable of making some beautiful custom pieces. Just a shame they copy someone else's knives. :thumbdn:

Jerry knows about that knife. I have posted the design here before. If you want me to post Jerry's email where he generously grants the use of the Front Talon Hole etc. let me know, I'll dig it up.
I really do hope Jerry jumped in at this point.
BTW, I made the knife about two years ago and Jürgen Schanz helped me out a bit with the workmanship.
Regards.

I really hope Jerry jumps in at this point to tell you that all is OK.

So far all negative comments are based on poor smattering from your side. First shoot, then ask. However, some of you are obviously not capable of asking at all, it just seems to be beyond your abilities. Now that is disgraceful.

Jerry?

I stand corrected. Thanks for the clarrification.

So let me get this straight:

This piece is a Juergen version of the Busse NO made of INFI. Excuse my ignorance but why not just get a NO and customize it? Also, why add the front talon hole?

So, this is a Juergen done NO?

As I know some of you will lack the ability to remember and probably suffer worse, here are some pictures of the knives that I posted almost two years ago.

No, it's not INFI. Of course, Jerry wouldn't allow any of the INFI being machined outside the Busse Custom / Company Shop. It's 1.2631 and 1.2552 resp. Both 1.2552 and 1.2631 are very old German steels, about 30 to 40 years old and can be rarely found today. 1.2631 is somewhat close to INFI, except for the Vanadin and Cobalt, both are subsituted for Tungsten to a certain degree. The front talon hole proved very useful durig prolonged chopping, and let me repeat once more, I have the permission from Jerry himself to use the design for this knife.

Anyway, I will dig up Jerry's emails on this matter and post them here tonight.

Okay, I got it.

I am just a little surprised that Jerry would let his trademark talon hole be used.

I remember permission to use the front talon hole being asked for and granted by Jerry publicly shortly after I first joined here. And Juergen is a BF member... you all may remember the .5" thick chopper he made and posted photos of.
