I was wondering if I could ask a question? Can you take a combat grade Battle mistress and polish the blade. I know the black coating is protective and non reflective and all that good stuff but after the knife has been used a while the coating begins to look really nasty. It would be great if a blade could be coated with something that wouldn't come off but if I have a choice between a scratched black blade or having you satin finish both of my Battle mistresses I pick the satin finish. what would be the time frame to have that done? Just wondering. I might keep one while you do the other so I'm never without a Battle mistress. Thank you for any and all help you can render.

The coating is the toughest that we have found for chopping. You're right, however, it can take on a serious case of the "well worn cowboy boots look" after prolonged abuse. If you want to send it back and have us refurbish it for you, it will take 6-8 weeks for us to work into the schedule. It will have a hand rubbed bead blasted finish similar to the finish found on the "Variants". Price would be approx. $85.00

One thing pointed out to me when I was considering bead blasting my SteelHearts and BM's was that the bead blasted steel rusts MUCH faster than the polished as the bead blasting open the pores of the steel helping to promote corrosion. I took them at their word and left well enough alone as I am a user not a looker

check out a McMaster Carr cat. they carry a stuff called tool black, i have not used it but have read various reports and it is suppose to be pretty tough.it is some what expensive, but less than $40.00. if you try this let us know how it does, i've only one black coated knife at this time and it is still in good shape, but prob. will need dressing up also down the road.

maybe this will be of some help.

Well guys if it were a matter of just keeping the blade black after use I'm sure you could just blue the steel like a rifle. It is more or less just the black coating I've never really liked at all. Like I said earlier I know it is supposed to do a lot of good for the blade. But to my knowledge INFI doesn't have that big of a problem with rust and non-reflective metal isn't really a concern for me since I am not special ops or anything. I want as many people as possible to know and see I have a battle mistress. And Should rust become an issue I'll oil the thing. It's that simple.I Just like the silver look better. It shows off the steel.
