Not a sexy brand, but the only Jersey I have. Three and a half pound DUNLAP.

The Dunlap Brand

Dunlap Logo from 1938 Trademark.

Dunlap tools began appearing in the Sears catalogs in the 1938-1939 Fall and Winter edition, and often the new brand was used for tools that had previously been offered under the Merit or Fulton brands. Dunlap tools continued to be offered at least into the late 1950s.

For a few years Dunlap tools were offered concurrently with Fulton.

I have had many Jerseys pass through my hands, but this 3.5lb Plumb is the only one that I have right now. This one I won't sell and I'll hang it at some point. When my next door neighbor's mom died (93!) he invited me to go through the shed and basement before he sold her house. He is in his late 60's and it's the house he grew up in. I found this head as you see it on the floor. Because of where I got it and it's condition, I can't sell it. I keep thinking about hanging it and gifting it back to my neighbor. I'm reluctant to let it go, but as I wouldn't use it (I have other good users) and I can't sell it I will most likely do that. It would be correct.

Fulton history is hard to find. However, I don't doubt Dunlap and Fulton were offered concurrently. I would guess that when Sears started selling Dunlap brand tools they had Fulton brand inventory that they wanted to sell.

It is tough to find a jersey pattern boys axe. Only one I've seen on eBay had a big crack in it.

Nice plumb there JB.
