Black paint and poor lighting hide the eye ridges, but they're there, 6 of them. Head weighs about 4 1/4 lb, 5lb 5oz total weight. I'm assuming SHC was the owner's mark. Very unusual end swell
To me, it looks like it's been cleaned, painted, and sharpened. The haft fits tightly, probably hung by someone with experience. But has anyone ever seen a haft with a swell like that? The grain is nicely oriented, with just a little run out. Thanks for watching, and I'd love to hear what you think. T-A

Not personally, but it reminds me of Walter's

Yes, it's just how they trimmed the haft after it came off the lathe. The ones I have had seem to be older hafts.

From what little reading have done, it seems likely that this might be a paper-label TT Woodslasher?? I also saw an example of a Collins Jersey with eye ridges, but it was clearly marked "COLLINS". I appreciate all the input I have received so far. T-A

Rather amazing how many different variations there are (or were) on the definition of an axe handle! Thanks! T-A
