Today I have a blade that has an imperfection in it. I decided to put it up at a reduced price to see if anyone is interested, if not it will be going into my own personal collection.
The blade is san mai construction, hand forged from 15n20 with a 1095 core. It features a ricasso and a long false edge on the spine. The black finish was achieved by etching the blade in ferric chloride, soaking it in cold water, and allowing it to air dry. This process creates a resilient, dark finish that not only looks cool, but also helps protect against corrosion. The handle is black palm that I stabilized myself with 5 copper pins. It is sharpened to 6000 grit on waterstones and is razor sharp. It comes with a hand stitched black leather sheath designed for vertical carry around the belt.
NOTE ON THE IMPERFECTION:
I had a small delamination near the plunge line on the right side of the blade that came out in the quench. It is approximately 3/4" long and is localized (does not extend into the blade). It is completely aesthetic and does NOT pose a threat to the structural integrity of the blade or the safety of the user. Visually, it appears as a small rough spot in the otherwise smooth weld. The imperfection is visible in pictures 3 and 4.
OAL: 9.5"
Blade Length: 4.5"
Blade Width: 1 1/8"
Blade Thickness: 3/16"
Blade Material: 15n20 w/ 1095 Core
Handle Material: Stabilized Black Palm + Copper Pins
My target price for this blade was ~$280, but due to the imperfection I am reducing the price to $180, PayPal preferred. It ships USPS priority free in the US, Let me know if you are outside the US and I will do my best to find a shipping option that works for you. First one to say "I'll take it" gets it, you can contact me by PM, in the comments, or by my email YozakuraForge@Gmail.com. If you have any questions or comments, don't hesitate to post 'em down below
Thanks for looking,
-Grant
