i have the opperintunity to get a bench jet drill press. the motor has been changed out with a 3hp 1ph 230v ac heavy duty sealed motor. he wants $150 is this a good deal?
 
i was thinking about using the motor on the kmg im saving up for. i just dont know realy how much one of these motors would go for.
 
The motor is worth the price if it in good shape. I have a small Jet drill press that's been used in my shop almost every day for over 10 years, good machine.
 
$150 would be a good deal for the motor alone............so I think it's a helluva deal. I think 3 hp (with the correct VFD) would be just dandy on a belt grinder, KMG, Bader, Hardcore, Burrking, Square Wheel, Coote, whatever.......

I saw a new 1/3 horse 1/2" benchtop (Ace Hardware brand) at a garage sale yesterday for $100. My wife was there or I mighta picked that up for no particular reason. She asks awkward questions sometimes. Like, " You have a HUGE drill press and God knows how many hand drills. What do you need another one for?

Tools are an obsession for some of us............

is jet a good brand for a drill press. im gessing its better than harbor freight.

is an under statement. i have a 2.5 hp disk grinder with speed control and multi directional control. but i want a kmg, and a nice drill press. i can never have to many tools
