Just scored on a Jet band saw for $200.00!!! Menards is dicontinuing the line and had them discounted. i do not know if its nation wide or locally but its a sweet deal if you are looking for a saw!

I have been using that one for two years now and It's a great machine. So far I have had no problems and no complaints. I have made a few mods to it and have a couple more to make.

Congrats on the nice score!

I set it up and sawed up a bunch of angle for a new welding table, it works great, I need to get some good blades though.

Which model did you get? I know nothing about metal bandsaws...are the capable of cutting through O1?

Would trying to cut through a thick piece like 3/4 thick by 1 1/2" destroy the blades?

I use Simonds bimetal blades and have cut several chunks of 4"x6" heat treated alloy steel. It was my first anvil and now I cleave off chunks from it when needed.

The saw has more then enough horsepower.

I have cut through 6" by 5/16" angle with no problem, and I cut some o-1 1" by 3" no problem. I am using the jet blades that came with it and I knoe quality blades will make it better.

I see a few mods I will make in the near future with the base, it needs to be a bit beefier.

I did not see a model number on it. It has a 1/2 horse motor and three cutting speeds starting at 80.

Nabbed mine today! ;-) I was considering a cheapie from the "Chinese Tool Store" (a.k.a. Harbor Freight) but this seems to be a better deal on a better saw!

Cool!
I have had great performance with Simonds bimetal blades and many others have had great success with Lennox Bimetal.
