Just wondering if others out there in the traditional space buy or make their jigged bone, or somewhere in between. If I bought dyed bone slabs and went to jig them myself, will the color be well establish deeper in the bone? I love jigged bone handles but I have been unsure how to get around doing it. An order of stag I made come with some little cow bone slabs I was going to try to dye and jig, and that went pretty well until I broke one of them trying to get a shield into it with too much force.

You can buy the bone already jigged in many patterns and colors; buy white white bone jig it first and then dye it.

I have used a dremel to touch up whitetail antler and other bone after shaping. If I had to remove some material that took away the jigging then I just matched it with the dremel. Then I used leather dye to color it. Worked pretty good. If you're talking about buying smooth and jigging it vs just buying jigged bone I would say buy jigged.
