Hey Guys,

What color jigs work best for Trout?

What color jigs work best for Bass?

What Jig head weight would you use for both?

Thanks,

Geoff

If you had only one color to use in the Great Lakes region it would be chartreuse. Weight depends on the water depth and current strength 1/4 oz would be a safe start.
1/8 oz would be my choice for slow moving or shallow water. The rule is; dark days, dark colors, light days. light colors. Plastic 2-3 inch grub or worms. Colors would be chartreuse and then a dark brown, black or oil tints.

Depends on where you are fishing, river or lake, water conditions, weather conditions. One of the biggest rainbows I ever caught was right here in the ozarks while fishing for brown bass. I was bouncing a brown 1/8 lead head of the bottom of a small river to imitate a small crayfish. Instead of hooking a 1 lb brown bass, I hooked into a 6 lb 'bow. On 4 lb test line.

In an earlier post I stated HAVE AN ASSORTMENT. Different situations call for different weights of jigs and colors.

If you present your jig in a manner that imitates something the fish are eating, you will catch fish. You can also provoke a strike by using a bright color.

I've had good luck with "pinkies" White fur with a pink head. I had a 12 lb bass hit one hard last week on the St John's river in Florida.
