Jim Hammond Gray Ghost Serial #25 with Presentation Grade India Stag Handles. It is virtually mint condition. It was completed and delivered in 1984. It has been stored in a safe since new - never carried, used, or resharpened. It has never been in the sheath other than when it was initially shipped.
The overall length of the knife is 12" and the blade is 6" long. The blade is made of 440-C Stainless with mirror bevels and hand-rubbed ricasso. It is double hollow ground with a full tapered tang, and solderless bolsters. The fittings are hand-rubbed satin finish. The handle is presentation grade India stag and pinned in 4 places. The blade is as sharp as only Jim Hammond can grind steel - SCARY! It is sharpened on the top edge. The stag on the handles is unbelievably highly figured - thick, deep and textured. Two of the nicest matched slabs I have seen. And for you sticklers, if you look at the handle from the top, you will see the slighest evidence of some shrinkage of the stag from age. It is barely visible, and you'd need a magnifier to see it. It certainly doesn't take anything away from the rareity or value of the piece. There are no cracks or chips in the stag.
Included with the knife is a right-handed leather pouch sheath made by Jim, and a padded zippered case for storage. I am also including the Jim Hammond Handmade Knives Knife Record Sheet and the letter that was sent with the knife when it was first delivered. Both are signed by Jim. Jim also referenced in his provenance letter that this exact knife was going to appear in a September/October 1984 issue of SPORTING CLASSICS Magazine. I am also including a copy of that magazine with the knife.
I am asking $$$ Postal Money Order, Cashiers Check, or PayPal (no fees). Price includes USPS Priority Mail Shipping including Insurance to the CONUS. I am not interested in any trades. I could use the cash - otherwise, this one would never go.
Thanks for looking. Let me know if you have any questions.
