This is a protoype Nagimaki laminated from 1060 and L-6, with exquisite Hada and shows a very subtle Hamon. I used this sword for cutting tests and there is NO damage or marring from that. This is a real "brutal" sword with a 30" blade, two Bo-Hi on each side in the Unokobe-Shobu Zukuri blade stlye. I made this one for myself but oh well...
The tsuka has tiger rayskin beneath my favourite black and gold chevron silk tsukaito. The Tsukamaki is done in my own "modified battle wrap" style which is very comfortable to hold, and it shows the beauty of the tiger ray skin quite nicely. Tiger ray is a very hard to get skin nowadays.... Tsuka length is 14 3/4" and the OAL is: 44 3/4". This sword is mounted in a Phoenix motif and is quite attractive as well as fully functional. The tsuka is secured by two mekugi...
The Siya is mangolia wood with 24K gold leaf under black cracked lac and the whole "package" gives a very "dramatic" visual statement. This sword handles very quickly both in single and double handed use. This is a MONSTER of a sword and a very nice piece. It is signed and marked "nagimaki prototype" and also has my 8R chop and my Kanji on the nakago. I am not planning on making any more of these so this is it...
