Just wanted to share some pics of a really nice piece that I just received from Jim Smyth. It's the framelock flipper model that he introduced near the middle of last year, with some improvements.
This one is dressed up a little bit over the one that I used to have in that there is a Timascus inlay in the frame instead of a big hole, and the pattern of the small holes has been redesigned to look even better than before. In addition, this knife is the first hollow ground blade that Jim has ever put a handrubbed finish on. As you can see from the pics, though, he looks like he's been doing it forever.
This piece flips like a dream. The action is very smooth, and that large flipper tab gives you enough leverage to easily open the knife fully from any angle. It's also the recipient of Jim's painstaking attention to detail, as the fit and finish on this piece are as flawless as any piece that I've ever handled.
