Okay.

I am looking for a serious self-defense knife, one I can trust my life with. I have knives, but I want a folder that I can be sure won't fail or break on me if I ever needed it.

So, I like Jim Wagner's stuff, but in your opinion, what's the best Jim Wagner folder out there, as to self-defense?

You might want to consider a small fixed blade too, if you don't want it to fail on you, preferably in a Mercharness.

Like this for an example:

CRKT Triumph N.E.C.K

Personally I'd recommand the CLB Edit. I own both the Triumph NECK and Edit, to be frank, the NECK has helluva design but the materials lacks quality, except the MercHarnass like mentioned before, Otherwise the Edit will outperform the NECK in every aspect.

Erm, the lanyards are IMO identical... are they made by the same factory?

You might want to consider an Emerson. The RBBs I've seen all have very accute points (even the recurve blades, the blade gets very thin near the tip) which contribute to the penetrating power, but the price is making them one-time-hitters, i.e. bye bye pointy pointy after impact on hard surface, with other words, they are intended for "soft targets" only. The lockback versions have solid locks, especially comparing to the AF series.:foot:

All said, the RBBs are designed and built for one-time SD (off course, if you're lucky enough to survive the encounter, you could always purchase a new one), agressive folders intended for maximum cutting and penetrating purposes when the occassion arises. In short, not a HD Chinese War Sword, but a 18th century pistol.

Ooh, wow, some good info here. Thanks!

But...perhaps I should have been clearer. I am looking for Jim Wagner strictly. In other words, what's the best out of only the JW knives?

Aloha TheWarrior,

I would have to say the recurve version:

I have the original RBB and the only thing I am concerned with is that pointy point on it. One of my co-workers has the PE version and he busted about a 1/8" off of it stabbing it into plywood. Don't get me wrong, it was still..."functional" but...

Just my worthless two cents...:o

God bless and be safe.

PS: Do NOT place too much trust in your knife...trust in your abilities through your training.;)
