Jimmy Fikes - A New Knife from the Forge

Congrats on that one Win! Gorgeous knife. Maybe now you can relax the death grip you have on a Cabin Boy....

Hi guys.

It's certainly good to be back out in the shop again and making a few knives. And it's just as good to be back on the forum and to find out that my work hasn't been forgotten:) The last few years have been difficult in the extreme and I never would have made it back except for the unfailing friendship I've found with the folks in the knife community... Win Heger not least. Thank you all so very much.

I am a somewhat newer maker who does stock removal but your work is one of my biggest inspirations. The only two photos to make the background on my computer this year were knives made by you, every day your work is a motivator and inspiration for me.

Thank you, Daniel. If my work is an inspiration, then I'm pleased.:) You're doing some fine work and I hope you get as much joy out of making it as I'm sure the people who own it do. I enjoy watching your YouTube vids, by the way. I think my handle on YouTube is Umber 54. I need to suscribe to your channel.

Win has very recently been accused of being a "black hole for Fikes knives" although I won't be naming the accuser anytime soon. :D

Here's one from about 6 years ago, very nice one at that! I believe this one still is residing in the Win homestead at this time, caught me at a weak moment a while back when I needed funds...always something!!!

SUPER cool piece! I think Jimmy's knives can cut you just by looking at them. :)

Nick, you young scamp, you! I've been keeping an eye on your work and you just keep getting better and better and better and BETTER!!!! I'd hate you if you weren't so blasted lovable ;)

I think I remember that one, G2.... I'd run out of green cord, if memory serves. ;)

This is just great! Welcome back, Jimmy!

I'm in Massachusetts for a sabbatic year. Any chance of you making it north during the coming months?

Best,

John

p.s. I thought that Nick Wheeler guy was full of hot air, but when I touched the photo on my computer screen, it did, in fact, cut me:)

Hey John, :)

Good to see you again. I'm planning on trying a visit to my old stomping grounds out around Greenfield MA next May or June. Not much chance to do it before then and maybe not even then... depends on how well I'm getting around when the time comes:( Would be really nice to meet you up that way if you're still going to be in MA.

As for Wheeler and his tricks... just be glad ya only got "Nicked".;)

Ha, 20+ years of chasing these beat up pieces of steel, I deserve the reputation!

I'll look for you on youtube! Thanks, you just made my whole month. :D

I'm really looking forward to more of your work.
