My turn on the wheel for this little beauty. My reviews aren't very technical, I don't typically measure or weigh anything, I just report about what I like...or don't like. This review will be short and to the point, with a few pics to follow.

I like the knife. It is not going to win any beauty contests, nor is the sheath. I don't care about that at all. I have specific ideas about how a knife should look, feel in hand, and wear on my hip. This knife fits the bill for me. I have several knives in the same size category, yet I think I might use this one over them because John has made a knife that is tough and I don't feel bad getting it dirty and pounding it a bit.

I used it today during a couple landscaping projects and it was a trooper. It cut open bags of mulch, trimmed stray branches off trees/shrubs, scraped moss, whatever I asked of it. The edge stayed sharp enough to make a quick fuzz stick as I showed my son the chest grip.

The sheath had a large enough belt loop to slide on and off easily. The knife had enough reveal to be easily removed and placed in sheath. The sheath is rugged, with a large enough opening to slip the knife in quickly whether I was bending, standing, sitting. I wore it in the car and I hardly noticed it. I hate getting poked in the side!

What I don't like that much: Sheath edges could be burnished. The handle could be just a tad bit longer (not a huge deal really). Some tung oil for finish on the handle would be nice, but I can always do that myself. Thats it. Pics!

Good review, you used the knife for what you needed to do, many of us will never do much real bush craft but it is good to know what the knife will do for all general lines of work. I have been thinking about the Bark River Aurora Bush craft but after seeing all of the reviews of Johns Knives and knowing the quality that is always there, it is hard to justify spending nearly twice as much. IMO. Not that the Bark River is not good quality because they are. OK, I am partial to JK's:cool:

Nice review, and thanks for the comparison shot with the kephart. I'm a predictable sort of guy. My eyes kept being drawn to the Kephy :D This one seems to provide a nice compact package with the recognized toughness we've come to expect in JK knives.
