My turn on the wheel for this little beauty. My reviews aren't very technical, I don't typically measure or weigh anything, I just report about what I like...or don't like. This review will be short and to the point, with a few pics to follow.
I like the knife. It is not going to win any beauty contests, nor is the sheath. I don't care about that at all. I have specific ideas about how a knife should look, feel in hand, and wear on my hip. This knife fits the bill for me. I have several knives in the same size category, yet I think I might use this one over them because John has made a knife that is tough and I don't feel bad getting it dirty and pounding it a bit.
I used it today during a couple landscaping projects and it was a trooper. It cut open bags of mulch, trimmed stray branches off trees/shrubs, scraped moss, whatever I asked of it. The edge stayed sharp enough to make a quick fuzz stick as I showed my son the chest grip.
The sheath had a large enough belt loop to slide on and off easily. The knife had enough reveal to be easily removed and placed in sheath. The sheath is rugged, with a large enough opening to slip the knife in quickly whether I was bending, standing, sitting. I wore it in the car and I hardly noticed it. I hate getting poked in the side!
What I don't like that much: Sheath edges could be burnished. The handle could be just a tad bit longer (not a huge deal really). Some tung oil for finish on the handle would be nice, but I can always do that myself. Thats it. Pics!
