Hey Andy,
I don't mind at all.
To save on the $44 bucks I've seen the flaring dies go for I used a broken drill bit shank(5/16") & a hardened pin from a chain that is approximately the same size & turned them down on the lathe, then polished them with 400 grit sp.
Then I scrounged a 2x2x2 chunk of scrap steel for a base & drilled a hole for one pin/die to set in & chucked the other die in the drill press.
Then I lined the tips up & set the tube to be flared on the bottom die & pressed the one in the chuck into it.

The tang & scales are drilled at 1/4" then I used an 82 degree countersink to flare the hole in the scales.:)
