Could you please do me a favor? Could you post a pic of that next to your Rule #9? If I'm thinking right, I think I'd really like one of those Bushcrafters.

The Busncrafter is one of my oldest designs, right after the Hiker`s Backup, and before the Kephart.

Here ya go Mack,I added the Kephart for comparison also.
3 great JK patterns of different styles, but all capable of handling pert near anything one could ask of a knife.
Honorable mention to Peter for the lanyard,a very generous man he is.

Can't go wrong with a Rule #9,but I'm more partial to the Tool for some reason.;)

Hmmm. interesting. the blade shape looks about the same...the height on the tool appears like it may be minimally shorter. obviously, the grind is different. but, out of curiosity, what do you like better about the tool? i.e. cutting performance or comfort?

it's good to see the comparison photo (thanks).

Oh man,lets see.
I like the Tool better because I designed it!Duh.:p
Sorry Todd,couldn't resist.:o ;)

But now that you have me thinking about it,I gotta say... & this is just my opinion/preferences,as I do love the 9,it is very comfortable & capable in use,but to me the blade proportions aren't quite right.
I like pointy blades to be a bit more narrow hence the 1" hight of the Tool.
I also like the handle material going all the way to the bottom of the guard on the Tool.
As far as grind,I went for the saber for just a bit more strength with the 1/8" thickness.
I don't cook much,so my intended use for the tool is wood prep & defense if needed.
I would have gone with ffg & satin if intending to use it for food also though.
The R9 does have more palm swell, but I don't use a knife for hours on end so little things like that don't matter to me.(I just mentioned it for future customers of John's.)
I like the Kephart & Hiker handles too & they are totally different than these 2.
It's all personal preference.

And don't forget,as we've all seen here,John will be more than happy to tweak any design to a customers desires.(within reason;))
