Did that first thing.
The watch was my maternal great-grandfather's.
It was given to me by my grandfather before he died in 1962.
It's an American Waltham (William Ellery movement) from the 1870's.
The watch was stolen from my home when I was in my teens. Months later my little sister found it where the guys who robbed our apartment must've dropped it while making their getaway. How it sat there all that time without being discovered beats all. (I had prayed for its return but that's another story.) It's about my most valuable possession besides my grandfather's mandolin. (He's the one that got me started with knives as a kid. Naturally, I lost all the little pen knives he gave me back then in the late 50's early 60's.)
