I recently acquired a knife from Joe Calton. It came fitted with a dyed-black tiger maple handle, a stainless guard, and best of all a 52100 blade. Joe was quick and concise in his messages replying back to me and shipped the knife to me in 2 days. Upon receiving the knife it was well packaged in box with newspaper. The 52100 blade takes a great edge and holds it even better. Unfortunately I did not take pictures prior to forcing a citrus patina on the blade, regardless, the knife still looks superb. To the pics!

Unfortunately photobucket is down, so I'm using the image URLs from thumbnails on flikr. If anyone would like better pictures of Joe's knives, ask me. The tiny spec on the edge on one of the pictures is a bit of leather from the sheath. Also the white balance is a bit off which resulted in yellow pictures.

Thanks Andy, I just applied a little mustard (not the yellow one) and it gave a great pattern on the blade. More people should really give Joe's knives a try. The quality is great! His knives are much better in person than they seem in the picture.

I agree, Joe Calton is a great guy and a great knifemaker. I have 5 of Joe's knives and i love everyone of them. No other custom FB i own gives me as much pleasure when i use it. Super comfy in hand, super sharp and torture tested by Joe before final finishing so you know the blade won't break and can withstand a lot of abuse. And they are some of the least expensive Custom FB's available. His sheaths are just as substantial and have The Best 'snap in' fit of any knife or sheath maker.

Joe's knives are tough. I just used it today on some pressure treated wooden poles to make cuts/notches on em. This wood is chemical treated and is some HARD stuff. After making these cuts the blade still shaved hair.
