If anyone has been following the other GBU thread on Mr. Hargis, you would have seen there were several unhappy/concerned people who were awaiting knives. Some were custom orders and others like mine, were sales from the exchange. I can't speak to the other members situations, but mine has finally been resolved!
Long story short, there was a rather long delay in shipping and communication ceased shortly after payment. At first I was concerned about Mr. Hargis, but my concern quickly turned to suspicion, and then turned once again to frustration. I let my frustration get the best of me and said things to Joe via email, PM, and Facebook messages that I am not proud of. I outright accused him of stealing my money (and that of others) without fully knowing what was going on in his life. We all know that things can happen in our personal lives, but I was upset by the fact that he didn't keep us informed on the status of our knives.
I still believe that we had a right to be concerned about our hard earned money being spent with nothing to show for it, but I acted in a manner that was uncalled for. I was encouraged by another forum member to give Joe the benefit of the doubt, but towards the end, all manner of reasoning went out the window, and I was just pissed.
I have received my knife and I am very pleased with it. It should prove to be a lifelong tool to accompany me hiking/camping/etc. As for Joe, I sincerely hope that his health and any other issues he may be dealing with improve and that he can get back to doing what he is good at - making knives!
Joe - I am sorry for the way I conducted myself and for the things I have said. Regardless of the situation, I should not have spoken to you the way I did and I ask for your forgiveness. I consider this whole ordeal a learning experience on many levels. Please take care of yourself and get back to the grinder as soon as you can!
