I know or think I remember a couple folks on here have one of these. Looking to pick one up and wondering about opinions on them. All the talk about mini mills got me wanting a mill again and this one came up. it has a riser block VERY proffessionally added to it, and the current owner who is highly skilled machinist is redoing the headstock bearings. It is Morse taper #2 collets, which can be found imported no problem.

It looks like the absolute perfect size (and the last machine I think I can fit in my shop). it will become a guard slotting beast! And I will be happy to add the small mill to the small machines I already have.

I(and more importantly, my wife) give an OK to buying anything "Atlas"! Mills are fun, but expensive. It depends on how much you plan to use it.

This is cheaper then the cheapest chinese Mill, plus a buddy is trading me a basic set of clamps and tooling win win!!

Sounds like a great deal, an excellent machine in fine condition for a sweet price along with a fantastic connection with a super machinist!

The Clausing 8510/8520's and similiar Delta/Rockwell/Burke vertical mills are considered 2/3 Bridgeport size. These are all excellent, USA made, mills that are perfect for a home user that can be broken down and moved by 2 people easily. Check the table for any major damage and backlash on the screws before buying. Collet availability is your only issue, but looking on ebay/ various machine owner forums for MT2 collets shouldnt be that bad.

Don't worry about price. If it is cheaper than a Bridgeport in your area, buy it. These guys are kind of hard to find.

Sam,
If you keep it at my house, it will be midway between your place and Kerry and Matt's place. Think how convenient that would be for all of us. ;-)
