A fellow Forumite who I was corresponding with regarding a substitute for a Nimravus Cub M2 suggested I look into Greco Knives. I checked them out and they have an appealing design. While familiar with A2 from the CRK One Piece range knives, I am not familiar with the other combination carbon steel Greco uses on his smaller knives.

Does anyone have Greco knives. I am looking for an under 4" fixed that is rugged yet lighter and slimer than the CRK Aviator. I have a Talon and am toying with the idea of a CM154 Talon, but wonder of it will be thick enough/strong enough for prying and other rougher uses.

Could use some help here guys.

Not sure exactly what you're looking for, but I have a Greco "bones", which I like a lot. Makes a good neck knife, anyway.

See2, roger that. I did a search and got the feel for what Greco knives are all about, although the "Bones" is unique to his line, and I guess I was looking to see if there was anything I should be comparing them against. I just wish they awere all out of A2 as I know it to be a good steel. His combination carbon steel is unknown to me and I am unaware of its qualities.

I have a Greco Cub Companion. I must say it is a sturdy beast and very easy to sharpen. For the price you really cannot go wrong. I did put an extra sharp edge on it, after receiving it, but that was for my personal taste.

They are a good value, the down side to me is the blade thickness. I had a 5.5 inch Companion model that was 5/16 of an inch thick, for my taste just a little over done for a knife of this size.
However its hard to complain much for the prices charged.Just beware, they are thick and heavy.

If you want something heavy duty, get the Greco. But, keep in mind that it is a heavy, thick knife. Even his small knives are made out of 1/4" stock, I believe.

Danbo, the smaller knives are generally 3/16" stock, which makes a big difference. I have three Greco knives. One is a 1/4" thick A-2 monster and the other two are a Little Baron (a mini-Green River style blade) and a Cub Companion. Both are very handy and cut well. The slightly thinner stock makes a huge difference, and both are quite lightweight, too. Greco's larger knives are typically A-2 or 5160 (although he does use some weird steels every now and then), and I believe his smaller blades are generally 1084, if I remember correctly. 1084 kicks butt in knives, so no worries.
