John's been around for years. I got a couple of huis knives off ePrey. Very nice work. Very reasonable prices -- for the buyer. Quick delivery in VG packaging.

they offer a lot of knife for the money imho, i have had 3 thru the yrs and still have a recon with the handles wrapped 'ala strider and its a thick heavy duty knife which i would trust to do anything i would need a knife to do.

sure some other stuff has a better finish or the latest super steel but i dont know that they would do any more/better in the field than a greco.

John's a nice guy - entertaining to talk to as well. He was at the Birmingham 'Alabama Gun Collectors Association' show yesterday (Saturday) - again. I have bought several of his knives at our shows over the years, and two more yesterday (Saturday 10-13-07). The black powder coat Whisper CT, a 10.5" 'fighter/tool' made from a full tang black Micarta handled 10.5" by .200" 5760 blank, includes a well made black leather sheath with provision for leg tie downs. The satin or stone wash MST, with similar, but wider, blade, handle, construction, and sheath are also nice. He had 'twofers' - two of each for $100! I split a pair with another fellow - got one of each (He sells two of a model only.).

I have seen him at the show several times now with marked down products such as this, with the only fault I've found to be the slight rough edges of some of the Micarta handles - easily eased, as they are held on by Torx headed screws. True bargains! Of course, if you want the best, get one via his site. He makes a fine and affordable knife. He usually goes home early on Sunday (Something about getting back to KY in daylight - before they rollup the roads!), so I may just trek back to the show this AM.

I too recently bought a pair of Mr. Greco's knives off of that auction site. Great price and fast shipping. They are fancier versions of his classic "Whisper" design. Beautiful knives, sharpened up to scary real well. Very sturdy--so much so that I'm considering a Krein regrind.

Even with the regrind cost, mucho cuchillo por poquito dinero.

I have one of his Dangler knives and got the chance to speak to him on the phone about replacing the round head torx screws with flat heads so they would be flush with the scales. He told me that would be no problem and that he wouldn't "charge me nothing because I sounded like a nice fella." We then had a lengthy discussion about his current house remodeling projects. Super nice guy.....don't pass up a chance to talk to him.

Stainz: Do you remember a petite brunette sitting behind John's table in a wheelchair at the Birmingham show? That was my daughter Kimberly, who has one of John's Scagles that he wouldn't let me pay him for. He is indeed a great guy.
