I've been volunteering my time to read at Storytime at the local school library.
Every Monday and Thursday I read for about an hour to two groups of ten kindergarteners.

Well, I spent the last two Saturdays laying laminate flooring for some people my wife serves with at church. The husband has health problems and couldn't do the work himself so with the help of two of their nephews we laid the floor for them. Since I have had experience laying flooring I did most of the measuring and cutting and they helped me with the installation.

I was with my family late one night at a McDonalds in Salt Lake City and a man came over to our table and said he was hungry, so I gave him $20 to buy food and get a place to sleep for the night. He got his food and as he was leaving I walked outside and asked him if he was going to be Ok. He said yes and thanked me.

I think it did more good for my family - I have 12 kids - than it did for the poor hungry man.

BTW, you don't have to add me into the contest. Sometime, doing a good thing is it's own reward.

Thanks for the chance. A friend of one of the women who works at my childrens school sent around a notice that her best friend and neighbor lost her entire house (and all contents) the previous weekend to a fire. The family got out and is doing well staying in temporary housing. Unfortunately, they lost 2 labs and a kitten.

We rounded up some of our friends and family to get a donation of clothing and toiltetries. Went out an some books and (reading and coloring) and a couple of puzzles to help keep the kids occupied. Purchased some gift certifcates for any other needs they they have to get back on their feet.

Thanks for the the contest. I do the grocery shopping for sick neighbors every week.

Nice knife and nice gesture

I won't participate, as I don't think I deserve it.
I try to be nice to people close to me but could not be counted as an altruist.

Here is a spin for you. I am still recovering slowly from breaking my legs, and my wife is pregnant with 24 hr. morning sickness. We share a driveway with our neighbour to the south, a gentleman in the army and his family. Often he has our driveway shoveled before we even get up. We gave them a thank you card and a couple of movie passes, but if this post wins he gets the knife.

Pappy,

Thanks in advance for this give-a-way here in the traditional forum.

Being a good guy/gal and assisting folks anytime you have the opportunity is the way we(each & everyone of us) should always behave in life. I do it as many times a day as I have the opportunity.

I think this knife is one of the finest customs I've ever seen, however, it would be best to give it away to some person that doesn't have a knife and needs one!

All the best,

Anthony

You're one of the good ones, Pappy! I don't wish to be considered for the giveaway, as I've already gotten a free knife from you (which I really appreciate), but I just wanted to comment that the knife in the OP is gorgeous, and it's a wonderful gesture for you to give it away. I usually try to be as helpful as possible whenever I can, but I'll think of you the next time I do something nice for somebody.

Cheers!

Edit: My most recent "good deed" was putting up with my six-month old son all weekend. He's teething and hasn't slept for longer than 3 hours at a stretch for almost a week now. I spent all weekend getting up when he cried, so my wife could get some much needed rest. Ah, the joys of parenthood.

Giving is a wonderful gift in and of itself

Our Tradition tells,
"In the beginning G-d created the world with kindness.
He saw it would not work, so he broke it and built it with judgement.
He then left to us to finish it with mercy."

Well the other week I went and picked up a lady friend who got stuck in the snow. Turns out I had to go up a mountain in the middle of a snowstorm. Oh the things I do for lust ;). Spent about an hour trying to clear MY car out after I got stuck in a ditch. Eventually had a bud come help and was able to push it out. Nothing like having friends who are just as dumb as you to come out and help :D.

Thanks for the contest, definitely appreciated. If I do turn out to win this probably give it to my pops so he can have a good slippy to look after.

I had purchased a Schatt and Morgan Whittler a while back and lost it:grumpy:. I liked the knife so much I purchased another one. Well I guess you know what happened. Yep, just after I got the new one I found the original. So now I had 2 of them. I decided to give my original knife to a friend of mine I have known since 1955. He has had a tough time of it and is a real fine fella so I packed it up and sent it to Wyoming. I tossed in a SAK soldier while I was at it so now he's got a couple of real nice knives and it made my heart feel good at the same time. When ya do something nice for someone it can become contagious.:D By the way thanks for the opportunity. It is really nice of you Pappy

I'll sit this one out. I like to think I have been doing my share of sharing lately but I prefer to stay quiet about these things. In honor of Pappy and this thread I will try to do a little more than usual this week. Great knife and great idea!

15 years ago my Mother-In Law let my wife and I live in her home rent free for four years while I went to college. She's also the person that got me hooked on knives. I know it's rare, but I'm probably one of the few guys that really loves his Mother-in-law. I'll never truly be able to repay her for her kindness, love and support over the years, but I try to help her out as often as possible as she's on a fixed income. Just today I finished installing her new kitchen cabinets, counter tops, sink and faucet ,under cabinet microwave, new dishwasher and ice maker water line. Basically a complete kitchen overhaul including all new plumbing. I managed to get it all done in three 14 hour "days off." Not bad for a college art professor!

Thanks for your generous contest.

Well, I don't know if this qualifies, but that sure is a nice knife: I've been doing all of the "baby" duties for our 16 mo. old toddler, since my wife had surgery on December 11 and will continue to do so until her doctor clears her to lift more than 10 pounds.

My Grandmother passed away 2 weeks ago after being in a nursing home for the last 5 of her 95 years. I didnt visit her as much as I shouldhave and regret it. This thursday I am going too my Aunts assisted living home and take her out to lunch. She loves Longhorn Steakhouse. Thanks for this gracious giveaway!!

Wonderful Karma and interesting read.

Well lets see--I eat my sons meals he fixes and brings over--and I do enjoy his cooking. We both miss Mom--my wife of more than 57 years.

I'll just watch this one and enjoy all of the posts.:)

I have gone through the closet and taken out all the clothes that I don't really wear anymore to take to the salvation army. I'm sure that somebody else needs those clothes more than me, especially in these economic times.
Thanks for the chance at a beautiful knife.
