I am glad that the calendar is used and liked. I will keep posting them and there are some interesting ones coming up. I did the whole year one long night and was going to put them in a ring binder, but it was way too much of a project and expensive to boot.
John, Mike, THANKS!!! These calander pages have been my wallpaper on my computer this whole year. They are so great. I can't thank you enough, John for sharing them with us each month. I look forward to them!
Doing these is my pleasure and I hope those interested find them to be good screen savers.
One of the things that has been requested (and is a very good idea) is that I supply information about the "pin up" shown. When I was attempting to put together a whole years worth that information was going to be included.
This month's piece is considered by many Indo-Persian collectors as a short 'sossun patta' rather than a kukri. I have to agree. This well made Indian short sword has all the markings of a very fine c1840 piece. The silver koftgari work is exceptional on the grip and once upon a time was repeated on the ricasso and would have gone part way down the T shaped blade and spine.
