So I just picked this up at the local flea market today. I did a quick search and have learned that John Pritzlaff ran a hardware company in Milwaukee from the middle of the 19th century till the middle of the 20th. I can't find any other markings on this knife. I'm wondering if anyone knows who may have made this and when. Thanks for looking.

I´ve never heard about this cutlery before (but I´m no indicator for this - there are so many that I don´t know). It´s a great looking EO-Jack. I would also like to learn a little more about this cutlery.

Here's a couple links about the company and family:

Thanks for the extra info, bw. Beautiful building they had there. The knife is in pretty good shape. The blades need a little coaxing to be usable, but both have positive half stops and medium pulls. Both lock up tight still as well. I'm very pleased with it. From the same vendor I purchased a Stanley 151 spoke shave as well. $30 for the pair.

I found a link on the big auction site for someone selling pages from a 1895 Pritzlaff catalog. These pages were for kitchen cutlery, but they did have the makers listed. I don't know if any of them may have been contracted to make pocket knives for Pritzlaff, but it may be a place to start digging.

Landers Frary & Clark
Samuel Lee
I. Wilson
Aetna Works
Putnam Cutlery
Amerikanisches Kochmesser
Victor
Columbia Cutlery
Lee
Bridgeport Knife Company
JA Henckels

Nice find CB-R, and that's great info Blaine

Thanks for the info, Blaine. It´s really great to read about this historic cutleries. All I´m just a little wondering about is the J.A. Henckells, which is a traditional cutlery from Solingen. Also known as "Zwillings Messer" because of their twins logo on the tang stamp.

Andi,
I guess, from the little I could get from the listing description, that Pritzlaff sold kitchen cutlery made by Henckells.

Mike,
I have read that about the straight razors they sold, but I haven't yet found anything definite about the pocket knives.

Most excellent!! Just a real beauty!! If I had to guess ...I would say Ulster

I just found another set of catalog pages for sale on the auction site that may be of interest. Pritzlaff also sold knives under the "Everkeen" brand. The Everkeen ads say the blades are made from "finest quality English cutlery steel". This catalog was from 1928.

Blaine - this was my thought, too. Henckels is famous for their kitchen knives, even today. I think they don´t make too much pocketknives nowadays, at least for the german market. A pretty informatic thread :)

You sure as heck did, Blaine! Fantastic find, sir. Thank you very much. Man, that was some turn around on your part. Love this sub forum.

Internet sleuthing is fun for me. ;)

Did you check out the wholesale price back then? $16/dozen.

The only thing I wonder about is the wood. The catalog says cocobolo, but yours looks awfully dark. Maybe they were ebony(?) at some point before or after this catalog.

I think I've read this at BRL forum.
