My initial thought was ebony. But upon reading the catalog and reinspecting the scales, I think Cocbolo is a likely bet. It is very dark, but still retains a bit of red. I haven't seen many cocobolo handles this old, so i'm not sure if this thing is on par with the aging process. . . I'm staring at it now, and I'm leaning towards ebony again. It's a very dark and dense non porous grain. Not black like my S&M Heritage, but darker than my GEC 15. It's also in about as good a shape as the 15. Thanks again.

If anyone is interested, I posted the catalog pages in the Vintage Knife Catalogs & Ads sticky thread.

Looks like LF&C, to me... coincidence that their name is on the list? ;)
Also, cocobolo tends to grow darker with age and use, doesn't it?
Either way... what a find! Gorgeous!

What a golden oldie. Notice how the ebony looks fairly good after all these years.
Ebony was the G-10 of its day in terms of ruggedness.

I have some cocobolo handled knives from 10 or 15 years ago, no problems yet..
Now DI is another story.

Nice grab.
