John Wayne "Wake of the Red Witch"

Flipping channels before leaving for work and came across an ol John Wayne movie; "Wake of the Red Witch"(1948). The duke plays a sea captain and on his belt he carries a fixed blade knife that he uses while battling a giant octupus.

Anybody know what kind of knife it was? Just curious.
