I never thought I'd take on something like this, but everything aligned too neatly for me to pass on a unique opportunity.

John White always struck me as someone I'd want to know, and whose work almost always inspired and impressed me. This piece, in particular.

Thank you, Eli :)

Fine knife from a great guy. I think it was this knife that inspired me to start checkering. Talked to John about a month before his passing and he gave me advice on getting started...sure do miss him.

Congrats, Lorien.....yes, a fine man indeed and sorely missed.

Congratulations on a great one from the incomparable John White.
Fantastic acquisition, Lorien.

I always really admired that one as well. Glad it went to someone with the taste and depth of understanding to truly appreciate it.

Congrats, Lorien!

I will learn a lot from this knife.
I'm glad to have had this opportunity, and so is the credit corporation which made it possible.

Lorien,

Congratulations on getting a beautiful John White, MS knife from Eli.

John made great knives and he was one of the nicest people that I ever met. I was proud to know him and have him as a friend.

I agree with Ben, this is the knife that made me want to start checkering as well. It's an awesome knife!

Nice acquisition Lorien. Very representative of John's skill for creating Damascus.
Nice checkering as well.

Nice score Lorien you are very lucky to have such a fine knife by such a great person as John White hold on tight

That is a beautiful knife. Being fairly new to knifemaking, I know there are many great makers who I will never meet but, the stories I read about John White's skill, enthusiasm, generosity and support of other knifemakers makes me a little sad I will never have the opportunity to meet him.

This is exactly why I made the decision to become a steward of this piece.
