John White MS Memorial BEST BOWIE 2015 - FINALISTS SELECTED!

1-1 Fisk Washington - This is a great looking knife but the history just puts it over the top. I'd really like to hear how Jerry acquired all the great stuff that went into this one.

6-1 Cas Lever Action - This is just a unique piece, something I've come to expect from Claudio and his brother. I really like bowies that break with tradition and this one definitely does so but still keeps the old west theme that I think of when I think bowie.

28-1 Lurquin Cerebus - This is a great looking piece. I do wonder if it would have made my list if it wasn't in Calebs fantastic "controversial" photo. It really takes it to the next level for me.

30-1 Bruce Bump Doc Holliday - Bruce knows how to make a unique knife and this is no exception. There is something really appealing to me about the handle on this one. Reminds me of pistol grips.

31-1 Bump Eastwood - This is another unique and stunning piece from Bruce. The leather in the handle looks fantastic and really sets this one apart. I often wonder where Bruce comes up with all these ideas! I'm also partial to this naming of this one ;)

53-1 White Tiger Knives Brut de Forge - I wasn't sure on this one when it was first posted. I like the brut de forge look but I really don't care for mirror polished blades. Somehow this one manages to pull off to somewhat opposing themes and does so in spectacular fasion. And I'd still like to know how he got the grind line above the finger guard like that!

92-1 Anders Hogstrom Pine Cone - Anders has some really nice stuff but the cool factor on this one is off the charts. Reminds me of steam punk and is probably one of the best uses of a pine cone scale I have seen.

Thanks for putting this together Roger. A real tribute to the amazing craftsman we have here and the tight knit community we are all a part of!

post #1 - 1 Fisk Bowie. Jerry puts his heart and soul in his work. Theres a story behind each one. This bowie deserves my vote.
post #6 - 2 Cas. Each bowie is so unique I admire his complicated mind. A beautiful knife to say the least.
post #86 - 1 Quesenberry. I doubt people have a full understanding of how much experience it takes to make this bowie. He gets my vote just because of the blood, sweat and tears that fell from this billet.
post #94-1 Bump, Wild Bill. The poor old guy needs a vote, besides just look at that ladder pattern!
post #31 - 1 Bump, Eastwood Bowie. It took me days to cut those dang windows for the leather inlays.
post #30 - 1 Bump, Hey I can vote for my own right? Love this handle if I can say so myself.

Well done gents. We will wrap up voting today - likely no later than the afternoon. Please get any last votes in - you have the morning - make it count!

A happy New Year to you all.

Great knives all around. Tough to only pick 7 of them. Some were tied to be on the list but for whatever reason I chose these. Why I really couldn't say but these are the ones that spoke to me. Thanks to all for doing this.

Aaaaaaand... that's a wrap for the selection of finalists!

My sincere thanks to all the makers for their tremendous work - I applaud all the nominees as they collectively deomstrate that the bowie genre is as strong as ever in 2015!

And my thanks to all who have participated - nominating, voting, discussing - that's what this thread is about. It's not the host that makes the party, it's the guests!

Your 2015 finalists are below, in alphabetical order. Look for a separate thread soon with open voting by poll - assuming I can remember how to do that as it has been Lorien's job these past few years. :o

wow I want to start off by saying if you have a knife in this thread I am a fan of yours I am a fan of the bowie knife I am working hard in life to keep the bowie knife moving forward as an art as a tool as a canvas for expression and creativity I am very proud of all the makers with work in this thread and I count all of them as friends I want to thank everyone that voted for a Lisch bowie Thank you and I want to thank everyone that voted. To much good work here I am going to Not vote please see it as a vote for all these knives they are all great to me may 2016 be the best year the bowie knife every sees and for that we need all these makers making Bowies.

Well Schucks! I tried.
Congrats to these five great bowie makers. First class all the way. Well deserved finalists.

Some great finalists to choose from.

I am greatly surprised by the lack of a CAS knife, or a BUMP.

I think they may have been hurt by split votes amongst too many great knives!

They must of been going up as I was typing I am thrilled to be a finalist thank you.

Well Schucks! I tried.
Congrats to these five great bowie makers. First class all the way. Well deserved finalists.

If it's any consolation Bruce you had TWO knives that ALMOST made it.

Very deep field this year and very close voting.
