I love this knife! It's so weird, it grows on you! Feels like the blade rotates on ball bearings.. Somehow, it looks better in plain than serrated. When I carry it, I always seem to want to eat at Indian Restaurants! Sal, why was it discontinued?
I think it was discontinued due to poor sales. I really like the design.
What it needs is a steel upgrade and pearl G10-shell handles. Then it would look more like one of Jot's custom knives.
A tip-up clip wouldn't hurt either.

"..And in those days the mad prophet Glesser did come unto the knife knuts, and He did speak of The Hole, and the knife knuts did see that The Hole was good, saying 'Yea, and verily shall we carry holes all the days of our lives!'"
-- The Hole Bible, by Ken Cook
I love my Jot Singh, but only at that great SMKW clearance price - I never would have got one at full price. Not to start this up, but I could see this knife having problems with being called a gravity knife... It almost seems to swing open by itself! A slight flick of the wrist sends it flying open. Not that I'm complaining, although it tended to open in large pockets. Since the Smoky Mountain special was serrated only, I've been thinking about having mine ground down to plain edge. I'm not terribly happy with the serrations on my Jot Singh - they just don't look like the rest of my Spydies. Now, if only I had got two of them at that price... I've also been thinking about some modifications to the design. Take off most of the hump and move the hole closer to the sharp side, and round out the pivot end of the handles so that the hole would clear. Now THAT would be a perfect knife!
I would agree with you that the Spydercos are starting to look alike to me...even with the collaborations.. I think that being discontinued is the first requirement for collectibility.. But I guess it's card to constantly come up with a new twist on 2 bolsters and a blade...
