I checked the FAQ, why isn't this in it?!

Ethan, what's the best place to buy it?

Thanks!

I figured but I was hoping for some super secret Bladeforums/BK&T edition or something. Oh well! Amazon it is! :P

I prefer used book stores. They have treasure troves of great finds. Personally I cuffed my parent's copy. It was the 1975 edition, first run. It was a wedding gift to them however neither one of them really cook now. They prepare meals but it is always just a "laurels" meal. Nothing really new just something they know how to make.

Check Goodwill or Half-Price Books. You may come across a good wartime or earlier edition for very little. If you want new, go for the 75th Anniversary Edition from any place.

oddly enough, i have never seen an old copy for sale. in person. anywhere.

i'll probably buy the reprint. it's a hoot.

the reason it's not in the FAQ is that it's a cult secret :D

Christine went to visit her dad a few weeks ago. She brought back her mom's old copy. It was a tough moment when she unpacked it as it once again reminded her of her mom who passed away 13 years ago at a relatively young age. Cancer is a bitch.

But her memory lives on through some of the recipes she used to regularly make from the book and that we will now continue to cook.

Get the book and cook the food. There are not many better ways to build memories between your family and friends.

The river store. Also got my copy signed by Uncle E himself over the BeckerWest weekend. Part of the Wife's Xmas gift.

This is the one my wife found for me at a flea market. She asked me if $8 was too much and while she decided, the lady went down to $4!

Looks like a '46 edition? Or is it earlier? I'm gonna guess '46. Could be '44... Doesn't have Marion's name on it. which if I remember correctly, and there is no guarantees that I do, I thought Marion joined on in '52.

I'm constantly amazed at how far off topic this sub-forum gets. You do have mods here right?:D

It's the 1944 edition, if I remember correctly. It's in fantastic condition and it's even got some good notes in it from the original owner. Anyway, there are some great editions to have, and this is one of them. I'd go for the 75th Anniversary first, though.

I remember looking at an edition in a used book store about 20 years ago. I used to trade in big piles of Guns n' Ammo magazines, fishing mags, etc. What was bizzare is that I later recognized an American born Social Studies class prof as staff at that same store during the summer. He came up during the Vietnam period and his father was W.W.2 Airborne. Unless you enjoy the aesthetics of a book they are dead, everything is on the net now, or near to it.

I reckon if it wasn't for this book most of us wouldn't know much about Mr. Becker and his favorite toys. ;)

I think we just found the tool in BK&T... Considering Becker is the one currently responsible for the Joy of Cooking cookbook, I'd say we are pretty well ON TOPIC here.

I put that one on my Amazon wishlist, hope I get it for Christmas!
