I've been pondering getting a JRE sheath for my 510 from Ben's Backwoods.

Does anyone have any experience with JRE sheaths, or this sheath in particular? Specifically, what size firesteel fits snugly in the loop?

Thanks, guys.

Had him build one for a Mora Clipper for my nephew.
Starting the boy out, did it without a firesteel loop, very happy with the results. So's the nephew.

I don't have the sheath for the Mora, but I recently had JRE build me a bunch for my own knife. Two different styles, both with firesteel loops.

The loop fits the Army-sized firesteel.

I am super happy with the quality of the JRE sheath. I would not hesitate for a second to pick one up.

Great, I'll go ahead and get one as soon as I come up with the spare change.

Brian, I remember that knife from another thread...It's probably one of the most beautiful knives I've ever seen. Glad to see you found it a nice pair of pants...

i have one for the mora 2000 and i think It sits to high up on my belt, i will eventually put a drop on it then i think it will be a very nice combination with army firesteel

Looks like a good sheath, but at 21 bucks plus 7 postage it's going to cost you more the the knife:eek:.Here a sheath I made for my mora would of cost me less that one dollar to make.;)

I just ordered a mora #1 and the JRE firesteel loop shealth with it. I'll post picks when it arrives.

I like JRE sheaths and Dan and Spen are good guys to deal with. I have sold knives with the only regret being that I had to give up JRE sheaths with them. They are solid, intelligently thought out and made of good materials. They may not be works of art as individual sheaths but they reflect the art in the craft of consistency - which is what has made "good-value" products, like Moras good value products. I just got another one with my BHK Bushcrafter and it is a bit trimmer and lighter than the others I have had, which is fitting for that knife, and it had eyelets big enough to actually get some decent cordage through.

I am all for "do-it-yourself" projects, but if you don't have the time or the inclination, they have been a good buy for me and I would recommend them.

Nice work, "Al." In spite of the cost, it's a heck of a nice -looking piece of work.

Of course you can't always make stuff yourself leathercraft is just my kind of thing;).The sheaths you are looking at buying look very well made,21 dollars seems like a fair price.

I have only seen pictures but I have never heard anything but god about their work. That's a good price for a quality sheath. Good leather is not cheap.

The basic sheath he made for my nephew's Clipper cost me three times what I paid for the knife as a gift, and I was delighted with the quality.
Pleasant to deal with, good return time, and I'll be buying more leather from JRE.
