James and I were bouncing back and forth on this idea...Brian sort of cinched it and brough it to the top again.

I have to carry a visible Photo I.D. while working and many others do as well.

I was asking James about several different incarnations...of a neck wallet...here are some of the ideas we have been toying with.

1. Obviously, a thick, clear, plastic window for Photo Identification. With easy access so it can be removed for closer inspection without handing someone the whole neck wallet. This is especially important if the I.D. you have serves as your Access Control Card to enter or exit the building or secured areas in the building you work in. Also, that is for Access Control Cards that have to be "swiped" through a card reader. There are "Proximity Readers" as well where the card is read from a distance of up to several inches away from the reader because there is Active Electronics in the card.

2. A zippered side pocket, for other wallet items...cash, credit cards, Driver's License, small items...a place to put another weapon quite possibly in the form of the Credit Card Blade's smaller, single pocket (not Bi-Fold) wallet. Cash at hand, in a flash.

3. A "False Wall" in the bag, much like the JSP Wing Bag...possibly with a ManrikiGarrotte velcro pouch, concealed. You would draw from the bottom of the neck wallet.

3b. Also in the "False Wall," a capability to carry a neck knife...concealed. The JSP/SCP Little Angel immediately springs to mind, but James realizes that some of you have neck knives already and he wants to make this equipment very versatile.

Depending on the length of the blade & sheath of your neck knife, this could be possible, it would certainly house a small Livesay Neck Knife, The Emerson (Fred Perrin Design) LaGriffe or possibly as large as a 3.5 inch Bud Nealy fixed blade in the MCS System.

The manner in which the neck knife's sheath is secured in the I.D. Wallet is still up in the air at this point...

Do you guys have any other ideas?

How many of you would be interested in this item for work?

How many of you have wives that would be inclined to use a neck wallet (as mine does on a daily basis)?

POST IT HERE.

Because I'm often working over open electrical components, any object dangling from my neck is a potential hazard, both to me and the circuit boards. A chest strap holding the system in place would make it look like some sort of bondage rig - totally out of place (in my environment anyway

), or like a shoulder holster, pretty much defeating the purpose.

I would, however, be very interested in taking this concept onto the belt line (where my ID is currently clipped). I'm really not enthusiastic about fanny packs, but a more wallet-like carry system perhaps one with a removable clip to also allow carrying the system on a neck chain, would really be a godsend in emptying out my pockets a bit, as well as carrying various implements.

The key here would ultimately be size. To my thoughts, it would need to hold tight to the waistline, no more than 4.5" square, and no more than 2" thick. Any larger than that, and the cumbersome nature would wind up keeping me from wearing the system.

Hmm, I myself would like a belt clip on a unit for those days where your shirt has no pocket and you have no jacket.

This is a good idea. I too wear an id around my neck all day. Some guys/gals wear their's on their belt. I'd agree with Smoke for a clip so you could choose around the neck or on the belt. I think the clip should be removable too. Also if you had the option to change the orintation of the clip 90 degrees depending on how your id is made (read horazontaly or verticaly). You would also be able to use this feature while wearing it around your neck to clip it sideways to the button flap or your shirt to keep it from flopping around. That way you wouldn't need a chest strap. I also like the idea of a pocket to hold the single pocket wallet that holds the CCB but not in a zippered pocket. Could it be made to hold the wallet upside down on the back of it so you could still draw the CCB out real quick like while it hangs from you neck? This would of coarse only work if you had the belt clip removed. -Root(Bandando owner, V-gar wanter

Don, just looked at the JSP site again and I think the neck wallet would be served well using the Neck Harness system or for the suit wearers the Execulite.

The Neck Harness would be more of a Credit card cutter system than a neck knife w/ the ability to hold only a few cards so as to keep it light. Basically a black nylon wallet on a chest strap.
