20 May 2005, jtstrider posted an offer on my Old School Strider for sale thread. If you read the thread, you can see that I responded to his offer. I sent him a private email accepting his offer of a NIB Microtech X70 OTF auto and $150 cash for my Strider. He immediately replies that he wants to Overnight the stuff and wants me to Overnight mine to him. Well, because he is brand new to the forums, and nobody knows him(joined BF in June 05 and had only 20 posts), I request that he ships first and that I'll ship as soon as I get his stuff. I send him my mailing info. I even tell him that Overnight is not necessary, and tell him to use Priority Mail.
He replies "yeh that's cool", says he understands about my waiting to ship until I get his package and sends me his mailing address. At this time(20 Jun), the deal is done and I'm waiting for his package. Saturday the 25th comes around and I still have no package, so I send him a friendly email on Sunday the 26th, inquiring as to whether or not he was able to ship on Monday like he told me he was going to.
He responds and asks if I had received his other two emails, where he supposedly asking for a little more time to think about it. Mentions something about how some guys are getting almost $250 for the Microtech. Well, DUHH. Why do you think I accepted his trade offer, when I had written in my thread that I only wanted cash ??? By the way, I received NO emails from this guy, and reply that we had a deal. I reminded him that HE proposed the trade/cash deal and that I accepted it on good faith and that I expected him to honor his word.
His response was puzzling, to say the least. He replies that I was getting ahead of myself, and that as of our last conversation, we hadn't finalized the deal and that we were still working out specifics. ??? Umm, excuse me? What part of my accepting his offer, sending him my mailing address and his replying with an OK and him sending his mailing address doesn't he understand? His email responses have degraded to him belittling my Strider and saying that there must be something wrong with it, otherwise I wouldn't be pushing him so hard. WTF? All I expect is for him to do what any honorable person would do; keep their word(especially since it was HIS idea in the first place) Ya know, jtstrider could have handled this a lot differently. If he had changed his mind, he could have waited until recieving the Strider, and told me he didn't like it. I would have then sent his stuff back. Basically, at this point, I wouldn't sell this guy a rubber mallet to smack himself in the head with. Just wanted everybody to know what kind of person they might be considering dealing with. IMHO, DONT DO IT! Just say NO to jtstrider.
