I plan to send it to CRK to get it authenticated and fixed up. It looks like a beater from the pics.

It is just the knife, no box or bday card.

I was curious, can CRK tell me the steel or the approximate timeline?

I’ve always wanted a regular small sebenza so I jumped on it. Hope I didn’t overpay.

Yes they can, request a reissued bday card when you send it in. They will fill it out. They can give the steel and the year.
If you take it apart, look on the blade for a letter stamp indicating the steel. No stamp indicates either BG42 or ATS34

Thanks ajack!

can’t seem to post pictures, will post some if I can figure it out.

Did you ever post in the WTB forum looking for a small regular ?

Maybe way back. It would have been a lefty. I haven’t been in the hobby for over a year. Just been using my large tanto.

did you have a lefty for sale at one point?

Not publicly, I check the WTB forum to see if I’ve got something someone is looking for.

Came today! It is definitely beat up but not terrible. I could barely open it. The pivot screw was very tight. The blade seems kind of stained... almost like it has permanent tape residue on it. the blade has the letter “s”

One scale is A06
Other scale is B05

S indicates S30V, the date stamps on the slabs also is indicative of the steel used during that time frame.
Does it have the solid washers ?

If you send it to the spa, CRK will make it look close to new again, if not like new. They do amazing work.

Yes I plan to, forgot about this whole pandemic issue and that they would be closed though. Hopefully they open spa services back up soon.

I don’t know if something changed or it is because I’m not a gold member anymore, but I can’t seem to figured out how to post pics

Set up an imgur account and just copy the image link for each photo or album. Super easy and free. Just be sure to upload the photos as private into Imgur. Otherwise you'll get a bunch of nut jobs commenting how evil you are for posting and glorifying a weapon. LOL.

Finally got 1 to load. I’ll post more later. The condition really isn’t that bad. I am sure the spa will make it look nice.

I am curious what that milky stuff is on the blade though. Is it possible a s30v blade could be forming some patina?

Ah, that one. I saw that and was seriously thinking about pulling the trigger. Blade is in a bit rough shape I think CRK can help up for sure. I did see some what I thought was a little rust in one of the ebay photos but might have just been "gunk". I think it will make a great user. And it's a lefty! Nice pick up for sure. Thanks for posting the photo!

thanks, I think I got a fair deal for it considering the condition and no box/paperwork.

no rust from what I can tell. Just that milky surface on the blade. Oh and plenty of gunk!

working on cleaning it up as much as I can at the house.

Once you clean it up, clean the washers and give it fresh grease, it may not need to go back.
I think they’ll replace the washers if you do decide to send it in. They’ll send the original ones back. Don’t know if they’ll touch the blade since it can’t be replaced.
