Jumped on a beater small lefty regular.

Once you clean it up, clean the washers and give it fresh grease, it may not need to go back.
I think they’ll replace the washers if you do decide to send it in. They’ll send the original ones back. Don’t know if they’ll touch the blade since it can’t be replaced.

I’d like to send it in to at least get a reissue bday card. By not touching the blade, do you mean they won’t sharpen it either?

No, they should have no issues with sharpening, they won’t refinish the blade.

Finally got a chance to clean it with some soap and water. Somewhat got some of the milky splotchy stuff off the blade but it is still there. I used some barkeepers

You can tell it hasn't been greased in a while. A little lighter fluid should clean up the washer area.If you have one, try a Mr. Clean magic eraser on the blade.

It almost too pretty to use ;)..............no doubt it will be around for a long time, enjoy it !

What's the current price range on Regulars? The prices I'm seeing on the big auction site are nearly double what they were 5 years ago when I should have bought one.

Regs are all over the place now. I've seen them as low as $350 to $400 for users and up to and well over $5K for the rare hard to find UG's and Annuals. I know some get even higher.

For plain jane models, I think realistic prices are $500 to $1K and maybe a tad more depending on Small v Large, blade steel, year, etc.

I know a lot of sellers on big auction site don't mind waiting for a big fish with deep pockets and high time preference, but I haven't seen any for less than $1k in a while. Maybe I should start looking here. All I'm hunting for is a PJ user with minimal sharpening done.

Yeah, stay away from the auction site for CRK. There are some deals there but like you said, mainly just overpriced pieces waiting for that one buyer who will pay them.

Keep an eye out here and also maybe join the Facebook Chris Reeve BST (Buy/Sell/Trade) and Chris Reeve Exchange Groups. Lot's of very knowledgeable people over there and Regs do come up and decent prices. I actually just bought a Small Reg here a couple weeks ago for a decent price. It's user with Reissue Box and Card but the price was reflective of this. Other than some finish issues on the blade, it was is great shape. You should be able to find a light user PJ Reg for around $500 to $600.
