And ordered another Military Orange, I know I'll be glad I did in the future.
So, I owed nothing on my knife tab and a bout of clear thinking in which I thought, those orange ones are gonna be gone soon! Caused me to buy my third one.;)

I was thinking the same, but then I realized the Para CPM-D2 is a better bet for future collector's value. Here is why: the only thing the orange Millie has is, well, the orange G10 handle. All the rest is the same as a regular S30V Millie.
Now the D2 Para has a blade that is made of a steel that will not be produced anymore (Sal said so himself somewhere), and which is a terrific steel, better in my opinion than S30V.
So, although we may see in the future other runs of orange Millies, maybe with different steels or left-handed or I don't know what, there will be no more CPM-D2 Spydercos.
Did you see how much a D2 Millie fetches these days on the Bay?
Anyway, I just bought too many new knives recently to be able to afford a second orange Millie.

I have four D2 paras of which one is a carry. I may grab a third Orange Military too. Good move, Jill. I carry one of mine so two stashed would be nice.

I just pulled the trigger on a D2 Para and the new Ti Sage from Knifeworks.

I'm a tip up only guy these days, so I'm going to drill and tap the Para. Sorry about that if you're a collector. :)

I'm planning on getting a D2 Para or two before they start going out of stock, but I've got two brand spanking new Orange Millies from Tom heading out my way on Monday. :D

I know the D2 Para may seem to be more of a collector because it has the limited (and exceptional) run of CPM D2, but IIRC the Orange Sprint has lower produced numbers.

And here I thought you were going to tell us a story about how you had to defend yourself with a knife because you were "jumped".

Personally, I thought she made a typo and meant "jimped". But probably my mind is less twisted than yours. Just joking.:D

No I was sitting at my desk mulling over in my mind:confused:, if I should buy a new Spyderco and I saw a line somewhere that said the OM were getting about gone. So I jumped into action and ordered one!:)

I thought similar things about it as you, Jill, but then realized that the whole "investment" aspect of knife collecting isn't for me. I will never be able to make enough on selling a handful of sought after knives to really call it an investment that I can make serious money on, unless I do it consistently and get it right every time I think something might be scarce in the future.

Of course, owning more than one orange Millie is an investment in personal happiness as well ;)

Edit: I do guess that it would be good for later trades for knives you want in the future.. Damn, I just convinced myself to get another one :p

I use almost all of my knives. Jill is the purest form of collector in that she's totally happy with just owning them. :)

The only knives I don't use are duplicates or rare ones I pick up. Like I said, I've one user orange millie, and two new ones on the way. More for trade value then reselling to make money. The $10-20 you'd make selling it higher then retail isn't worth it to me.

Did Spyderco add to the D2 Para sprint run? It seems they have been available forever and supposedly only 1200 were produced.

There has to be more than 1200 out there.

The orange Mille is a one time 600 piece run from what I hear on Spyderco forums.

They just weren't as popular with the non-knife enthusiast community.

I've bought and shown off very nice high end knives (M4 Mule with CF/G-10 handles being one of them) to some people, and after commenting on the price and the nonstainlessness of it they would remark "If you're spending that much, it should at least be stainless."

Some people just don't get it.

I predict Orange Millies this time next year will be going for 60-80 dollars more than now. It wasn't long the F/G Manix started bringing more than it was sold at. I see no reason the Millie in orange won't follow suit. It's a popular model and even though it's still available, I think the orange at 600 pieces will get hot fast.

The D2 Millies ran off and no one is letting them go. I was very lucky and picked one up for a song, dance, and very good trade. :)

If Tom has any more left after this next batch I may pick up another. I like the orange, what can I say? :o

I have 2 orange Millies.

One is in the safe, and the other looks like this

I like it, but that implies buying another Millie with black-coated blade. Damn it, you guys are a bad influence. BTW, Rob, aren't the screws on the black-coated Millie black, too? Did you just switch blades or liners, too?
