tl;dr: I get the hype. I have the madness.
So, I went to an Old Crow Medicine Show concert after a final exam on Wednesday. Naturally I had a good few beers and danced like a madman and generally had a great time. I then went back to my girlfriend's and the combination of excitement and inebriation led me to a retail app on my phone. I'd had a BK14 and BK15 (as well as two Victorinox Waiters to be given as graduation gifts) in my cart for at least a week or two and, like many here I'm sure, I have a tendency to pull the trigger on knife purchases when under the influence.
Anyway, the shipping was stupid fast and I got a notification that my packages had arrived yesterday,
I hurried home and whipped out my BK4, naturally.
Which will be first?
The 14!
I guess we all know what's in the bigger package then,
Sweeet...
(The camera on my phone is terrible, and seems to be worsening. If there isn't perfect shady sunlight it looks terrible like these pictures, especially in the dark.)
Both came shaving sharp with no cosmetic type issues except a tiny spot where the coating is chipped off the handle on the 14, but that isn't really an issue for me. I didn't expect the little locking device on the 14 sheath, and I've been trying desperately to remove it with my little keychain Leatherman and SAK to no avail. I think I'm gonna take my dremel to it the next time I'm home, as I've got it pretty gnarled up already. I can get a 3.75 finger grip, sometimes 3.5 sometimes 4, but I think it will feel even better once I give it a paracord wrap. The 15 handle seems to be either just long enough for my sausage hands or a bit short, but that's how I felt about the full size handle when I first got the 4 and after using it I like the handle a lot, so I'm going to use it a bit before I make a final judgement. I think the blade shape on the 15 will excel at food prep and general usage, though I'm not usually a trailing point/upswept tip kinda guy. I planned to use them both grilling some steak today, but ended up helping my girlfriend move and stayed in the city for work. I definitely look forward to putting both to good use as soon as I can though, these Beckers just scream "Use me! Use me hard!" haha
Anyway, not sure what the point of this thread is, but I'm pretty dang excited. I definitely have more fixed blades than I honestly need now, but I'll figure it out. I'm gonna get a group picture once I get to use them. I'm planning on camping a couple days this week, so they'll be useful then for sure.
