Many people are deceived by 334dave's backwoods-hillbilly style...But let's not forget that he was a reactor technician on a nuclear submarine...They don't give that job to Forrest Gump... ;)

I wern't fuuled for a sekond. My daddy did 20years Navy. Retyred as Chief.
Evurthing I lerned in life I lernt in Olongapo as a teenayger depntdent. Been there then ya'al no whut I meen.
And, one thing learned is that those squids that wear the dolphins are smart. They know where the best chow in the Navy is served ;)
That's all I got to say about that.

The member's knife is a Model 55NS Elk, club logo etched blade, w/ membership number engraved. One per member number. Only $99 dorrah for you Joe...rast you rong time.

Will take a scan later. Heading out to church.

Note: Through all this, the Navy has found men to serve proudly in the Silent Service, where standards are high and where the victories are often kept secret.

Submariners, like their “boats”, are tough, quiet and work well under pressure. Fewer than five percent of sailors are qualified for submarine duty. But for those who do earn their “dolphins” (the insignia of the submariner), there awaits an experience like no other.

Is that true that less than 5% are qualified for Sub duty ?????

My cousin spent 4 or 6 years (memory not real good anymore) on a Nuke Sub....
After he got out, he went to work as a jailer at the local county jail (that changed him real quickly), then got on as Sheriffs deputy. Made it to Sgt. and was the motorcycle trainer then decided last year he had enough.. Selling Insurance now..

Dave,
You know that I'm a fellow sewer pipe sailor right? well, my old man was on the boats as well. He served on several boats during WWII including an S boat. The stories he used to tell. His last boat was the USS Odax (SS484). My boat was the USS Darter (SS576). A new city councilman here where I work mentioned that he's also an old boat sailor. We got to talking and guess what? He was on the Darter too, only two years after I left. Small world ain't it?

Makes one stop and wonder about the rest of the Fleet doesn't it 33837512359142132...Infinity?

LOL. Sorrry Squidlys...couldn't resist.

I like the Navy. As stated so well in a great movie; "No, I like all you Navy boys. Every time we gotta go some place to fight, you fellas always give us a ride".

Anyway...being all that I can be...here's the pic. For ya non-BCCI peeps, don't get on me about the quality...JOIN BCCI. Cheaper than a tank of gas and a hellva lot more fun.
