June Buck of the Month kNIFE

The price ($165) is only $10 more than the regular's Buck site price of $155.

Sure, it is quite a bit higher than the street price on the regular versions, but in Buck's mind, it is slightly higher priced.

I love the look of the blue/black. However, I already have 4 different versions of the Marksman including the Marksman Elite.

WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just kidding. Hey, 5 days is okay. I like that there was a little time to make a decision. While it wasn't in the cards for me this time, I'm happy everyone had a chance and I can't wait to see pictures!

My Marksman BOTM was delivered to my office today. It's a nice Marksman. My first with aluminum scales. Noticeably lighter in weight than the G10 SK Blades offering. I still think I like the pattern of the scales better on the SK Blades. Mine seems to be properly tuned out of the box. Flips and thumbs open with complete strap lock up. Easy one hand open and closing operation. Pictured with my EDC. IMG_20180705_141321.jpg

I wanted to see if others had anything to say about theirs and now I will tell of mine...

Ordered three (two for the grandson's and one for me). They are outstanding looking knives. Two of them are are centered perfectly. One of three (unfortunately, not the one that is not centered), the operation of releasing the lock to close the knife is way harder than it should be. The "certificates" that were included in the box had the leading edges crunched when they were inserted in the box and have dark smudges on them from being wrapped around/against the knife.

For me... this was the only experience I have had with the BOTM offerings or any knife from Buck that has not been outstanding. I feel that when you pay a premium price for these BOTM offerings, everything should be absolutely perfect. I gave the factory a call and spoke with a wonderful lady named Bree about the paperwork. She said they would print new certificates on Monday and get them out to me, she was great to talk to. I haven't adjusted the tension on the lock and I am undecided as to what I should do with the centering issue. I have yet to do a deep dive into the website, on this model, is the centering something that can be easily corrected here or not?

Thanks in advance for any input about the centering...

I haven't seen one that wasn't centered. I have took one apart. Bearings so the question if centering can be adjusted I'm not sure. Too loose could be the problem. Is there side play with blade open but not locked? There shouldn't be any. If blade doesn't move freely between open and closed it would be too tight.

Thanks for your input Mike. There isn't any perceptible side to side play at all in the blade, open or locked. The blade opens easily, it's just not straight, as in not parallel with the two sides. :(

I would send it in. Sounds like something else is up.
