Read a lot and watched a lot about these two,,, anyone out there handled/used both?
Curious about any opinions...warranties/price/sheath aside..

Never owned a Junglas so I can't fully respond to your question but I do have the Crowell Barker and hold it in high regard. Workmanship and materials are excellent. The sheath is functional and classy. It's made in Taiwan. It's a knife that deserves more attention than it gets.

I have both, much prefer the browning. Fits my hand better, better blade shape(in my opinion). Just works better for me, so much so that I really should sell the junglass, it just isn't getting used.

The Crowell Barker is a beast. It's very well made with excellent fit and finish. Highly recommended. :)

The Junglas is a beast, has a great sheath and very comfortable handles, plus it comes with a darn good warranty. If you look on the exchange here you can often find Junglases for reasonble prices often brand new or like new condition, I can't say I've seen the Crowell Barker in the exchange yet, nor have I had a chance to handle one. (if you accept other suggestions, the Becker BK9 might be a less expensive alternative to either knife)

I have a Junglas. I have only handled the Browning at a gun shop. The Browning was a nice looking blade and it felt as if the balance was closer to the handle. After regularly using an 18 inch machete, neither seem very large to me. I also probably prefer the forward balance for the same reason.

Can't speak to the Crowell Barker, but Can to the Esee Junglas which is a fine blade...

The Browning is 108x and convex bevel and flat(ish)/full-height convex grind. The handle is pinned and epoxied in place and a little small and chunky/squarish to me. The build quality is very good and it comes with a pretty nice leather sheath. It's made in Taiwan.

The Junglas is 1095 and a v-bevel on a flat grind. It has removable scales and a Kydex sheath (if you order it) which is ambidextrous.

I've owned both and kept the Junglas. I'm a lefty so that mattered, plus I prefer the handle size of the Junglas. It's a terrific small machete/big knife. Plus it has a lifetime warranty and it's made in America.

I looked for a while for a user bowie with the stud type sheath with the Crowell Barker comes with, so I got one and have been very happy with it. Slide it into my belt when I am working on the property. Lot of knife for the price and fits my needs well. Sorry, can't compare it to the Junglas.

The Crowell Barker is one of the best bang for the buck large knives I've seen. It cuts deep and is balanced very well. I know it's been said the knife is 1084/85 and it might be. It's more likely to me that it's SK5 tool steel which also has a composition that can be within the 1085 range. Whichever it is it performs like it should for a large knife. I prefer it over the Trailmaster and like the feel and balance of it better. It chops deeper into wood than the trailmaster. Back when they were discontinued I bought a second for $90 on sale because I felt it was too good a value to let it get by and I never did sell the spare even when I got rid of half my knife collection last year into this early spring. It's a keeper.

I own both and really like both knives. I think overall if I had to pick one it would be the Junglas. However the Browning is an excellent knife in every way. It is lighter than the Junglas.

Well guys, looks like it's split down the middle,, guess I'll just buy both and sell whichever I like less here:D. I may just start with the Junglas,,, must be something good about it if I have a hard time finding anything on Google for "broken Junglas",, other than the video of it getting bent 45 degrees before snapping!
Thanks guys, and thanks Cobalt for putting the vote over the edge!

I think you wild find that when you end up with both, you will want to keep them both.

Just don't try this with either one of them and you'll be fine . . .
