Junglas Chopping Hardwood

Great pics!
The ESEE Junglas with the Rowen magic heat treat seems to have slid into a slot that was formerly reserved for the Busse Battle Mistress and Dogfthers and smoked them both on the price to performance ratio.
I know I'll be getting a second one shortly to keep in the jeep.
Awesome knife.

The Junglas is a real contender in that big knife market, for sure. As for price, it's in the same range as the Scrap Yard Dog Fathers, but a lot easier to find and buy. And so far, that Rowen heat treat on the 1095 seems to be tough enough for my purposes. But I don't chop concrete blocks. :D

Great pics! I was just reading the article on this knife in T.K. earlier today. The more I see it the more I like it. Now I'm stuck trying to make up my mind between the Junglas and the new TOPS Power eagle.

i'm really itching to put mine to use... in the mean time, i'm building a kit for the sheath. have a generic mil-surp canvas bag, added some grommets to it and lashed it to the sheath. now its just a matter of filling it up. lots of room for goodies

I'd say a good machete is pretty darn close to the big Busses...and way better for the price point.

Just curious I know they are different types of knives but how does the Junglas chop compared to a good Kukri?

No not another esee to buy. We might have to gentle federal government involved because of their great addictive products. On a real note we all know how great esee knives are and while I don't have a junglass I believe it is a wonderful blade based on prior other esee usage. There is another famed knife maker and they are Himalayan imports. If anyone owns both a junglass and a kukri from HI I would love to see a head to head between the two.

I know Horn Dog does because he has old posts on HI forum. Probably on every forum that sells choppers :)
I like the Kukri's from HI but they are so damn heavy more like an axe

I don't have any of the really big HI Khuks. But they are impressive choppers. And, yes, I have a thing for choppers! :D:thumbup:

Hmm. I don't want to be offensive, but ...

I believe that Junglas is laughing at you!!:grumpy:

You need to 'beat it' much more thoroughly.;)

Go chop some concrete blocks with yours, if you like. I hammered mine through hard wood. That's good enough for me.

Horn Dog, your enthusiasm for this knife has convinced me to make a purchase ASAP! The only other Big Chopper I have is a Dog Father, how does the Junglas compare?

OK ITS OFFICIAL...I want one! Thanks for the pics and demo, MAN than thing is a HOSS... I'd like to know how it sharpens after all that hackin!! Thanks again and good job

I have had mine for a couple months now, (I got it as soon as it came out),

and I have just touched it up with a ceramic rod after each use, and it still

shaves. Admittedly, I haven't used it super hard.
