Can anyone tell me why Condor puts the holes in their blades?? Function? Or just a distinguishing characteristic? I was just curious...

In addition to being a distinguishing characteristic, I find that it acts as an edge-alignment guide for novice users. When the machete is swung with good alignment you can hear a distinctive difference.
