This is an RC-3 carried and used every day but one of our Peruvian Air Force Survival Instructors. I offered him a 100 dollar bill and a new knife to let me have it back and bring back to the States to put in our collection. He turned me down. Seriously. So, I settled for taking a picture. Anyway, this is what RAT Cutlery gear and knives do. No bullshit. No wannabe warrior stuff. Real use by real-deal guys.

After seeing how well-used this knife is, it makes me wonder how anyone could break one unless they are abusing it.

I have more photos from this latest round of training pilots in jungle survival. Will try to get these posted when I have time.

BTW: the knife is about a year and a half old.

WOW:eek:
That knife sure has reached knife nirvana imo

I really hope that my RC-4 will ever see that much use:thumbup:

Holy crapin crap. I'd call that well seasoned.

I only wish I had an excuse to use a knife that much.

I doubt most of us in the States will ever have to use a knife that much, but an edged tool is the only way of life in the places we haunt down south.

Now wait just a minute - Jeff, you sure this isn't the knife that the guys in the Peruian Amazon jungle didn't use to cook smore's over the campfire when you weren't looking? :D

Sorry :o sometimes I just have funny thoughts.

My old camillus pilots survival knife is about that well used. My RC4 looks waaay better.

Isn't it interesting that He refused both money and another knife in exchange! We get pretty attached to our sharp stuff.

Compare this to the thread that Mike posted about the "warranty" guy.
Makes you appreciate real people, and real knife users, eh.
And the RATs are a great knife.

Oh, and welcome back, Jeff.

That may be the coolest knife picture I've ever seen....

I spent a good deal of time in Manaus, Amazonas, and the humidity there could take steel apart....I guess it's the same in Peru.

Tip looks a bit worn but still intact. Looks like that edge could use a little bit of loven' also. Otherwise, nothing a little smoothing out with some sandpaper and a good green scrubby of the handle with comet couldn't handle! Lots of years left in that baby.

Thanks, Terry. And you made my point about the "warranty" guy.

We will eventually get this knife back to bring to shows and show our customers.

Well, that makes mine look minty and new.

Nice to see that people USE them as intended.

Good luck with that! It doesn't sound like he's too keen on parting with it to me. Of course, if I had a knife that lasted that well in those conditions you'd have to pry it from my cold, dead hand too. :p

Wow, that's rough looking:thumbup:

What made an even bigger impression is that the owner woulden't give it up for what you offered, that guy must be pretty attached.

Does he carry it in the stock sheath, and if so, hows that held up?
